Gothic Arches - Domestic Goddess

Enlarge for details. ( I am confused by the requirements for commenting at Gothic Arches (Mr Blinky versus ordinary blog comments) so haven't posted there.
We complain about our domestic chores in this modern age. Spare a thought for those who had to heat a super-heavy iron on a wood stove, hand wash everything - or boil it - and then use a hand turned wringer.
The image is from a Flickr-free-to-use submitted by Cassandra. Everything else from Kubivet freebies.

  1. I'm about to show my age because I remember the wringer washers, washboards and hanging clothes on the line to dry with wooden clothespins! I remember trying to hang clothes in the winter when I was a girl, to accompany the frozen clothes, I had frozen fingers and toes!!! LOL! Give me a washer and dryer any time! Love this piece and the memories, Marie! Hugs, Terri xoxo

  10. I remember all those wonderful (or not) domestic implements you mention : the cast iron iron, the hand wringer, the boiler and the posser and the glass washing board. Thank goodness for all the 'white' goods we own today. Great job Marie.
