Mixed Media Monday - Lotsa Layers

Layering can be seen to better effect on enlarged picture!
Thanks to Diane for a great challenge. I had a lot of fun with this but lost count of the layers. I would guess at least eight. Overlays by Berna Datema and Katie Pertiet. Cardboard edge pieces by Windgefluester.

SUNDAY POSTCARD - PARTY - CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST YEAR

While we are celebrating Sunday Postcard's first birthday, spare a thought for my great-aunts. Ada and Elsie were non-identical twins (except for their short-sightedness) who lived in hope of joining the "in-crowd". Sadly, because of their prim, proper and spinsterly appearance, they were never invited to parties and languished on the vine, so to speak.
Photo of Ada and Elsie a very scratchy old but interesting sepia from Flick free images - greatly enhanced and coloured. Curtains and balloons from New Life Designs.

Thank God it's Friday - Architecture - Lilli Marlene

Thanks for the great challenge. I have taken an old photograph and added some layers to it.
The image is from Lunagirl collage sheet. (Worn overlays Berna Datema and Manuela Zimmerman both of Scrapbookgraphics).
Some (ahem) younger bloggers may not know the song "Lilli Marlene" which begins "Underneath the Lamplight" and is about a young woman who is waiting for her soldier sweetheart underneath the lamplight. I think it was very popular during WW1 - not that I am admitting to being alive then!!

A Moo or Two - Musical Instrument

Thanks for the challenge. The image is from a collage sheet by Maya at SBG, the background is by Madame Mim, the sheet music, hat and music notes are by Ikscrap.

Art Creations Friday - Forever blowing bubbles

Many thanks to the Art Creations Friday ladies who always find wonderful backgrounds and images for us to work with. This one suggestion bubbles to me. The image is a Flickr Free, the background from ACF. I used some digital tricks to add the bubbles. The software picks up reflections from the original picture so if you look closely you will see parts of the lady in some of the bubbles.

Mixed Media Monday - Feathered Friends

My feathered friends are pink and grey cockatoos or "galahs". They are large birds with beautiful colouring and they abound here where I live. They graze like sheep in the grass in parks and roadside verges - great flocks of them. I treated them to some altered art so I hope they will forgive me. The papery bits and pieces are by Fiddlette.

Gothic Arches - Garden Sprite

Thanks for the challenge. The sprite and part of the background by Lorie Davison, flowers added.

A Moo or Two - Happy

Vintage image from Flickr free, crown from Lisa's Altered Art, hand and background Irene Alexeeva.

Theme Thursday - Numbers

She should look worried as she is wearing a dead fox! The Animal Protection Society may not approve. Maybe her number is up!!
Image from Outsider-Artists freebie.

Soartful Challenge - Cherubs

I hope you will take the time to enlarge these pages so as to read the little known true story of "The Cherubs' Revolt". It is a story of the triumph over oppression.
The open book is by Maya at Scrapbookgraphics. The cherub paintings have been Googled and one has been altered by adding clothes to keep the cherubs warm. Painting and story by me!

Artarazzi - Alter Vintage Ad

Bev hosts this week challenge at Artarazzi. She has given us a charming little vintage ad (sepia) for a fabric dye. I have coloured the children and placed them on a seat in the park.
The seat is from After Five Designs and the background is by Lorie Davison. The picture is a Flickr Free image.

Mixed Media Monday - Altered People

The only "real" part of this lady is her face. The body is made from digital elements including pendant lights (skirt and hat) and a fabric square that looks like a door mat (torso, arms and legs). The face reminded me of someone I thought I knew and then I hit on it - Harpo Marx, right down to the frizzy blonde hair. All the "manufactured" bits and pieces come from After Five Designs. I had a lot of fun with this one. Thanks for the challenge.

Gothic Arches - Peace

The face and hands are from an image from Outsider-Artists (freebie) and the dress was painted by me. The stylised wings are by Vera Lim and the background by Irene Alexeeva. The words are from the song "Give Peace a Chance" by John Lennon.

Sunday Postcard - Postage People

This is a great challenge. I’m sure it has stretched us all to learn something new, thanks to Marion. I made the checkered background. The body is from a sepia drawing by Graphic Fairy (coloured). The crown is from Lisa’s Altered Art.
The stamp is Russian, the year 1986 and the pictures are of Peter I. Tchaikowsky, composer, and (I am guessing) a Russian space station. I am not sure what the connection is. I thought it might have been the centenary of Tchaikowsky’s death but he died in 1893.
The quote is by Maya Angelou but seemed to fit the composer as he was something of a tortured genius.
I am now a fan of postage stamp people art!!

A Moo or Two - The Kiss

Thanks for the challenge! The background is a collection of dried roses by Trish Jones. The image was Googled and altered.

Art Creations Friday - Background

Thanks for the beautiful background. I have used a free image from Stock.xchng and tried to achieve a "painterly" effect.

Theme Thursday - Masculine

Long time blogger friends will recognize my uncle (by marriage). I give him an airing from time to time in all manner of guises. The Big Head Syndrome suits him to a tee. Thanks for the challenge!

Mixed Media Monday - Helping Hands

I think I must be in a blue/fairy mood. This one is surely MIXED. The body of the fairy is from a photo of my small granddaughter, minus head and replaced with another from Outsider-Artists. The roses (altered) are from my garden. The large hand is a free image from Stock.xchng. The background paper is by Alana McCarthy at SBG. The wings are from Lisa' Altered Art. The fairy's jumpsuit and hat were painted by me.

Gothic Arches - Little Girls

Credit to Lisa's Altered art for wings, crowns and small child's legs and arms, Outsider-Artists for children's faces (altered) and Robyn England for striped legs.

Sunday Postcard - Alice in Wonderland

It is Saturday morning here in Oz and I am posting early. I had some fun with this one. A moral to be found in the story of Alice in Wonderland is to choose one's friends wisely. Alice's face and arm from Outsider-Artists freebie. Tea set and candelabra by Berna Datema. Alice's dress and hair and the Mad Hatter are Ozstuff Originales, painted in ArtRage.

A Moo or Two - Zetti

I don't claim to be an expert on zettiology but I hope this fits the bill or comes somewhere reasonably close!

Swirls and cat by Irene Alexeeva. Wings and background by Christine Honsinger.

Soartful Challenge - Clowns' Picnic

June at Soartful Challenges has given us the sepia photo to work on. I have kept the heads and painted bodies and background around them.

Mixed Media Monday - One word of inspiration

Everything in life is or should be based on TRUST so that is my inspirational word.

Woman's face (altered) from Art-e-Zine, legs from Lisa Whitney. Girl's face (altered) - Outsider-Artists freebie, legs by Robyn England. Man's face (altered) and boots also by Robyn England.
Background - After Five Designs.

All painting and fashion disasters by me.

Gothic Arches - Vintage Lady

Great challenge! The image has been on my computer for a very long time and I am not sure where it came from. The curtain is by New Life Dreams and the dried roses are by Trish Jones.

A Moo or Two - Sew

A sewing lady with ambition. Fabric "patches" from Ztampf. Image a long forgotten one I had in my folders. It was originally a black and white ink drawing which I have coloured. Thanks for the challenge.

Art Creations Friday - Circus

Thanks to the ladies at Art Creations Friday for the great image. The girl looks as if she belongs to a circus so I hope she will be happy with her new home.
Image from Art Creations, background Googled, balloon by Createwings.
